There are actors and then there’s Peter Lorre. There are director’s and there’s Fritz Lang. Now this is from 1931.Imagine.. 80 odd years ago that’s a serial killer explaining his mess of a psyche to a “mob” jury ,literally. The movie is a ready reckon-er for all things cinematic.Even the extra cast have more depth, presence and relevance to the theme than most main protagonists of movies that hit screens these days.Makes you realize that in the eighty years since this movie cinema hasn’t grown much in terms of screenplays and sheer acting prowess.
